With Drive Probe Advanced Edition, Accurite Technologies
provides unparalleled performance and value in a diagnostic package for testing disk
drives. Drive Probe Advanced Edition can be used to evaluate, repair, and align both IBM®
compatible and Macintosh disk drives - with no need for any oscilloscopes or other
bench test equipment.
With a proprietary design Accurite Universal Floppy
Controller installed in your ISA PC, Drive Probe Advanced Edition allows you to thoroughly
assess the performance and check the condition of:
PC Drives
- 3-1/2 inch (720Kb, 1.44Mb, 2.88Mb)
- 5-1/4 inch (360Kb, 1.2Mb)
- 8 inch (360 RPM)
- including those with a CMOS interface.
Macintosh Drives
- 3-1/2inch(800K, 1.4Mb FDHD SuperDrives)
Duplication Drives
- 3-1/2 inch (300, 600, 720, 864, 1200 & 1440 RPM)
- 5-1/4 inch (360 Kb - 300 & 600 RPM, 1.2 Mb - 360, 600
& 720 RPM)
Automatic Sequence Testing
This flexible function allows you to run all or selected
tests on a specified drive using the state of the art High Resolution
Diagnostic (HRD™) diskettes.
Tests include:
- Spindle Motor Speed
- Diskette Eccentricity
- Radial Head Alignment
- Azimuth Head Alignment
- Index to Data Timing
- Positioner Hysteresis
- Read/Write
- Window Margin*
- Asymmetry*
* Bit Shift Module option required for Window Margin and Asymmetry
tests.
Manual Testing
In this mode, you can perform one test of your choice in real
time, and results are continuously updated and displayed on the screen. This is indispensable
for drive repair, since you can instantaneously view the results of any adjustments
you've made.
Tests include:

- Step Rate test
- Effective Head Width test
- General Alignment Tools
- Autoloader tests
Read/Write Testing
Checks a drive's ability to read and write data without
errors.
Features:
- Nine different data patterns
- Random or Sequential testing
- Selection of heads or tracks to be tested
- Error mapping of diskette used for testing
Utility Functions
Allows you to use Drive Probe Advanced Edition as a floppy
drive exerciser.
Features:
- Selection of drive for test
- Report of drive interface status including write protect,
drive ready status and diskette change
- Selection of desired head and single or alternate track
seeking
- Write selected frequency pattern
Adapters
Optional adapters enable testing of drives with unique
