| ACCURITE TECHNOLOGIES INC. RELEASES DRIVE
PROBE® FLOPPY DRIVE ALIGNMENT PACKAGE SAN JOSE, CA, OCTOBER 3, 1991 - Accurite Technologies Inc. today announced the release of the Drive Probe, a comprehensive diagnostic software package for testing and aligning floppy disk drives in IBM compatible personal computers. Using Drive Probe, a complete and highly accurate analysis of the condition of a floppy drive is available. PC users and MIS personnel can use it to monitor and ensure the integrity of the disk drives in their PC systems. Technicians can also use it to inspect, repair, align, debug and evaluate these drives - with no need for any additional test equipment. Using state of the art HRD High Resolution Diagnostic diskettes, the Drive Probe is the only software package available that provides the user with the tools to thoroughly evaluate and adjust all key performance criteria of 3.5", 5.25" 360K and 5.25" 1.44MByte drives in IBM PC/XT/AT, PC/2, PC/1 and compatible personal computers with any monitor configuration. Additionally, Drive Probe offers the unique feature of being able to test 600 RPM floppy drives such as might be found in software duplication equipment, and supports Mountain Computer protocol and Ventuno autoloaders through the PC's serial port. With Drive Probe, the user can run an automatic sequence of drive alignment tests for a quick report on the drive's status. Or, the tests can be run individually, which provides a real-time display of results for easy adjustment of the drive. Tests performed include spindle motor speed, diskette eccentricity, radial head alignment, azimuth head alignment, index to data timing, positioner hysteresis and effective head width. Additional features include extensive read/write testing modes and utilities for exercising the floppy disk drive head. "Drive Probe is uniquely valuable whether you want to repair a disk drive, troubleshoot a system problem or just perform regular system testing and maintenance" explained company president, Brad Baker. "Even if all the user wants to do is swap and replace rather than repair malfunctioning floppy drives in their PC, Drive Probe saves time and money by assisting the user in quickly pinpointing whether or not the drive itself is the culprit in their system failure." The Drive Probe package includes a comprehensive manual, the program in 3.5" format, as well as the HRD test diskette for use with 3.5" (both 720K and 1.44MByte) drives. Optional HRD test diskettes are also available for use with 5.25" 360K and 5.25" 1.2MByte drives. Accurite Technologies Inc. is the worldwide leader of floppy drive diagnostic products. Manufacturing both the Dysan® and Accurite® brands, Accurite's products include Analog Alignment Diskettes (AAD), Digital Diagnostic Diskettes (DDD), High Resolution Diagnostic (HRD) Diskettes, Certifier Reference Diskettes (CRD) and floppy drive alignment software packages for use by both PC end users and technical personnel.
