SAN JOSE, CA, FEBRUARY 26, 1996 - Accurite Technologies Inc. today announced the release of a high speed model of the Drive Probe® Advanced Edition enabling testing and adjustment of the new high speed 3.5" floppy disk drives installed in the latest software duplication equipment. The High Speed Edition supports 3.5" 1.44 Mb software duplication drives operating at speeds up to 1440 RPM while recording and verifying information. Duplicator drives on the market which currently fit this description significantly reduce the time needed for software to be copied, and the Drive Probe Advanced Edition provides the critical testing needed for their proper maintenance.

Comprehensive and highly integrated, the Drive Probe Advanced Edition features both sophisticated hardware and software for testing not only high speed duplication drives but also the standard and double speed drives found in software manufacturing systems (ie, those drives running at 720 RPM or lower). Very versatile, the Drive Probe Advanced Edition is equally indispensable for general drive repair including PC compatible 3.5", 5.25" and 8 inch drives as well as Macintosh 800 Kb and 1.4 Mb SuperDrives in its testing array.

With a standard, inexpensive PC as its platform, the Drive Probe Advanced Edition features powerful but intuitive software for floppy drive alignment testing and adjustment using Accurite High Resolution Diagnostic (HRD™) diskettes. The hardware component of the package includes a Universal Floppy Controller (UFC™) that plugs into a standard PC slot, an external Drive Personality Module (DPM™) with multiple drive interface connections, and a Bit Shift Module that mounts directly on the UFC board. The Bit Shift Module enables complete window margin and asymmetry analysis.

Priced several thousand dollars below competitive testers, the high speed model of the Drive Probe Advanced Edition is immediately available.
