| ACCURITE TECHNOLOGIES INC. ANNOUNCES THE
INDUSTRY'S FIRST PCMCIA DIAGNOSTIC CARD AND EXTENDER CARD SAN JOSE, CA, September 20, 1995 - Accurite Technologies Inc. today announced the latest addition to its family of PCMCIA development and test products with the PC ReportCard and PC ExtenderCard. The PC ReportCard is the first-of-its-kind PC Card size diagnostic card. Prior to the release of the PC ReportCard, developing and troubleshooting software or hardware on a PC Card required expensive test equipment such as a logic analyzer. In addition, it required detailed knowledge of the electrical interface signals and how they relate to each other in the various timing cycles. Many of these problems are now resolved by the PC ReportCard. By using the PC ReportCard in conjunction with the PC ExtenderCard, all the PC Card I/O and Memory access cycles are displayed on a series of LEDS allowing for a quick, convenient and easy diagnosis of the card's hardware or software. The PC ReportCard is ideal for the engineer in designing and developing PC Cards as well as for technicians in debugging PC Cards during the manufacturing process. The PC ReportCard is a passive device in that it can monitor PC Card activity without the need for any special software. The PC ReportCard's external trigger signal can easily be connected to an oscilloscope or logic analyzer to aid with the capture of all the timing cycles. It also contains a general purpose logic probe that can be used to look at bus signals or signals on the PC Card. A companion product to the PC ReportCard, the PC ExtenderCard includes a four layer PCB with extensive use of grounding in order to minimize noise and maximize the integrity of the various signals. This allows for an extended length giving adequate clearance for commonly used PC Card sockets. Test points for each of the 68 pins of the bus are provided with clearly labeled mnemonics for each test point. The PC ExtenderCard also includes sixteen DIP switches which allow breaking of key signals to the PC Card in order to isolate problems. The three power sources are fused, monitored with LEDs, and have a convenient connection point for a current meter. Push buttons are provided to interrupt card detect 1 and 2 which simulates the removal and reinsertion of a PC Card without wear and tear on the card's sockets and pins. A second socket is provided for direct and easy access to all bus signals of the computer's PC Card slot, accepting adapter cards for logic analyzers or the PC ReportCard. Both the PC ReportCard and the PC ExtenderCard compliment Accurite's other PC Card development and test tools such as the HeadstartCard protototyping kit, strengthening Accurite's offerings of PCMCIA design and manufacturing solutions.
