SAN JOSE, CA, FEBRUARY 17, 1995 - Accurite Technologies Inc. today announced the latest addition to its family of PCMCIA products with its HeadstartCard™ PCMCIA prototyping kit. Release 2.10 compatible, the HeadstartCard kit streamlines the design cycle for PCMCIA products providing a completed PCMCIA interface design ready for tailoring to a custom application and already packaged in a Type II form factor.

The HeadstartCard development and prototyping kit includes a Type II physical format PCB with PCMCIA interface logic based on the Zilog Z86M17ASC adapter chip. The custom application area of the PCB supports surface mount ICs including 32 or 64 pin QFPs, 44 or 100 pin QFPs and 150 and 300 mil SOICs. The ample documentation supplied includes schematics for the prototype board together with data books and specifications for key chips included on the board as well as for popular controller chips being used in PCMCIA card readers. PCMCIA general design reference material is also provided together with assorted utility software useful in debugging and completing the design.

Accurite's HeadstartCard prototyping kit was designed to save an engineer valuable start-up time to develop a specific PCMCIA application by eliminating the need to design the core portion of the PCMCIA interface while including a custom design area in its final packaged configuration. In this way, an engineer's prototype need not pass the repackaging step necessary when designing with typical large prototype boards. Complete documentation and the inclusion of integral components saves resources in additional time spent locating necessary chip specifications, design references and small quantity samples of parts. Since the prototype PCB comes complete with frame, covers and an I/O cable, the package is equally useful to design and real-time test a prototype ultimately intended for volume production as it is useful for unique or small quantity applications to be built by hand. Additional prototype PCBs can be purchased for this purpose.
